1. Eligibility and Account Verification
Rules for who can sell and how verification works.
For Sellers: To list and sell items on Swivel, you must be a currently enrolled student at a recognized tertiary institution in Ghana. You agree to provide truthful and accurate information for verification, which may include your student ID or university email. Falsifying this information may result in account termination.
For Buyers: While buyers may currently browse and purchase without full verification, Swivel may introduce mandatory verification in the future to maintain platform security.
2. The Swivel Marketplace
What the marketplace is and your responsibilities.
Swivel allows verified student sellers to offer goods and services to the campus community. Sellers are responsible for accuracy, quality, and legality of listed items. Buyers should read listings carefully before purchasing. Prohibited items may be removed at our discretion.
3. Payments, Fees, and Escrow Service
How payments, fees, and payouts work on Swivel.
Transactions must be processed through Swivel's secure payment system, powered by Paystack. Funds are held in escrow until the Buyer confirms receipt or the auto-release timer expires.
- Service Fee: Sellers pay a 4% service fee on completed sales. The fee is displayed before listing and automatically deducted from payouts.
- Offline Transactions: Taking transactions offline to avoid fees violates these Terms and removes platform protections.
4. Dispute Resolution and Refunds
Follow the official dispute process in our Dispute Resolution & Refund Policy. Swivel will mediate and its decision is final. Refunds processed by Swivel are subject to a 4% non-refundable service fee.
5. User Conduct and Content
You are responsible for your conduct and content. Abusive, fraudulent, or illegal behavior may result in warnings, content removal, or account suspension.
6. Limitation of Liability
Swivel connects buyers and sellers but is not a party to transactions. Our liability is limited to the service fees you paid to Swivel in the preceding three months.
7. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana.
